CGSC will be added to SOASC=!
I can hereby confirm I have decided to record and process all current tunes found in the CGSC (Compute's Gazette Sid Collection).

The current collection (based on v133) contains 15311 MUS files, 4208 STR files and 5224 WDS files. However, the SOASC= ROTS recorded version will ignore STR (Stereo SID), resulting in 11104 .MUS files for r...

Progress - Update March 2017
First batch recorded from 29th January to 28 March. 2 months in total. Due to this beeing a new automated collection to record it didn't pass within 1 month as we pre-calculated. We expect the next 3 chips to go much smoother, and possibly in June 2017 everything should be settled (1month pr. chip for the CGSC collection. HVSC 50 to 66 is done already!)

We're still working on the release and mirroring the newly finalized HVSC recordings, but so far things are moving slowly for database release and mirror hosting. We'll get there, don't worry!

In progress: MOS6581R2 NTSC - CGSC #133 - 20 of 11104 tunes.
Pending: MOS6581R3, MOS6581R4.

DONE: CSG8580R5 NTSC - CGSC #133.

Progress - Update February 2017
As we are finishing up last bits and pieces for the textual database online for the already recorded HVSC #50-66, we are currently recording the CGSC collection for all 4 chips in NTSC mode. We have not started contacting possible mirror hosts yet, we would probably wait until we get all numbers in for the amount of data to be presented, both HVSC and CGSC collection completed.

In progress: CSG8580R5 NTSC - CGSC #133 - 4518 of 11104 tunes.
Pending: MOS6581R2, MOS6581R3, MOS6581R4.

Progress - Update January 2017
We are in the final last stages of scanning for bad, broken, missing recordings using own tools or manually record cranky tunes. This is the last semi-automated operation to be performed. After all of this has checked out, we're done and ready for release which seems to be around 1st of February 2017!

Straight after release we shall b...

Bad rips / Uncompatible
These tunes seems to be playing fine in any software SID player, and even PSID64 PRG version sometimes gets played fine in emulator, but when it comes to real hardware - they choke or simply don't even play a note, except for the SID INIT clip pop with endless silence...

The future for the SOASC= project?
The intial goal of SOASC= was to process the entire HVSC#45 archive, and then continue to update the archive whenever HVSC released a new pack of fixes/new tunes for a limited period of time. After that, #46, #47, #48 and #49 was recorded and the database updated to reflect the changes and other bugs squeezed...

Why did you really create MP3 recordings?
Recent years developers came and went into creating suitable emulation playback software and hardware to let us all play the cranky Commodore 64 (C64) SID music on our modern systems...

2SID / 3SID Tunes ignore list
The following SID files were ignored (#50 to #65 releases) and will be ignored in future recordings too.

The list contains _3SID and _2SID tunes which naturally require two or three SID chips mounted on a PCB card to enable stereo/triple sound. 2SID was introduced in HVSC #55 and 3SID in later releases.

SOASC= is still abo...
